Welcome to Pilgrims of Christ A launching pad for Catechesis and works of mercy in our local parish communities. The site will be a foundation of a ministry focused on prayer, asceticism, fraternity, and acts of charity. As the movement moves forward, it is a hope to create ” a rule of life” for those who wish to engage in the charism of Orthodoxy and Orthopraxy–Catechesis and Charity.

The motto of this movement and fraternal organization is Orare, Docere, Dare. It means: To Pray, To Teach, and To Give. And from this motto will grow the rule of life. It is a call for us as pilgrims who are making our way toward the Kingdom of God to build a regimen of prayer in our lives. It is a call to learn the faith so that we can obey the command of Christ to go forth and preach the Gospel (Mt. 28). And finally, by learning about the faith to move our intellect to trust in the Prime Revealer–Jesus Christ and assent to the twofold movement of an act of faith and an act of Charity. As St. James reminds us, “Faith without works is dead.”

The Patron Saints of this fraternal ministry will be two great Saints of the 20th century:

St. John Paul the Great:

The key focuses from Pope St. John Paul II is his teaching on Faith and Reason, Truth, and Human Dignity: On Life and On Economics will be emphasized in by this ministry.

St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta:

The key focus from St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta is her outreach to the margins of society  . The ministry will focus on her rules for giving I once came across on a poster attributed to the Saint:

“Every moment in time gives us the chance to love, to learn, to dream, and to become more than we ever imagined”

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self- centered.
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you.
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend your years building, someone could destroy overnight.
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow.
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

You see, if the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

At Pilgrims of Christ, those who are interested will find ways where they can give to others, future schedules for learning, evangelizing,  giving,  and videos and commentary to help learn about the faith.

The Site includes also a free copy of the book: The Birth of God in History: An Examination of the Infancy Narrative of Jesus Christ,  a study guide on Confirmation, and notes on the Theology of St. Augustine by Matthew Levering. It also has some resources on building your prayer life.

Pilgrims of Christ, was founded by Phillip, who lives in the Springfield Diocese of Illinois with his family. He was educated in History at the University of Illinois at Springfield and is currently working on his Master’s degree in Theology at Holy Apostles. He lectors at his local parish, taught youth catechesis, and has hosted several book discussions on various topics of the faith including The Church Fathers, The Nativity of Jesus, Flannery O’Connor, and The Theology of St. Augustine. He hopes to continue writing on future topics: The Teaching of God in History, The Passion of God in History, St. Augustine, The Exodus in History, and Saint John Paul the Great.
